Managing Goals

As a user with permission to create and assign goals, you also have the option to later manage these goals.

When in the Team Workspace, select Goals and then select either Team Member or Organizational Goals.

On the page that opens page, you can use the search bar, filters, and sorting to help you locate the goal you are looking for.

Managing Goals

Once you find the Goal you want to manage, click on Edit Goal and you will see three options:

Edit

Once you click on Edit goal you will be redirected to the page with the goal's settings. Here you can change any of the settings you have selected when creating the Goal except for the organizational entities that have been assigned the goal and the "Goal will stay" option you previously selected.

Archive

If you no longer need a goal but want to keep the information within it, you can simply archive it at the bottom of the page. Once you click on the Archive button and confirm your selection the goal's status will change to Archived.

Once a goal is Archived, the updates to its progress and Tasks are disabled. However, the progress of the Goal will be preserved and visible in the details displayed and when reporting.

After archiving a goal you also have the option to restore it. Find the archived goal in the Archived tab...

...and select Restore.

Delete

If you no longer need a goal or the information within it you can delete it permanently. By clicking the Delete button, the goal will be completely removed from your academy.

Tracking and Managing Personal Goals as a Manager

In the Team Workspace, under Goals > Team Member Goals, you will be able to view your team members' goals.

Selecting a goal will allow to track how they are progressing, and edit the goal by adding tasks, connecting courses and the like.

If the individual is on your team, you will also be able to edit the individual's personal goals, as well as archive and delete the goal, if needed.

Note: When managing goals, if the selected pillar is configured as a weighted pillar, the goal cannot be excluded from Performance Reviews. In this case, the “This Goal can be included in Performance Reviews” option will be automatically enabled and greyed out, indicating that it cannot be modified.

Your Own Goals v Goals You Supervise

When you create a Team goal for someone on your team, that goal belongs to them as its assignee — you're its creator, and depending on how your academy's organizational structure is set up, you may also be its supervisor. A goal you create for a team member is different from a Personal goal you create for yourself, even though both can surface while you're browsing goals in the Team Workspace.

To confirm who a specific goal is actually assigned to, who created it, and who currently supervises it, open the goal and check its About tab. The Assigned to field always names the person the goal belongs to — not necessarily you, even for a goal you set up. The Supervised by field is determined automatically from your academy's organizational structure and updates on its own if reporting lines change, so a team member's supervisor doesn't need to be chosen manually.

A Team goal you create for a team member appears in your own Team Workspace, since you created and/or supervise it, but not in your own Learner Workspace — your Learner Workspace only lists goals where you are the assignee. That team member's own Learner Workspace is where the goal appears for them.

If another manager expects to see a goal but can't, it's because they are neither its creator nor its current supervisor — check the goal's Supervised by field on its About tab to confirm who has oversight. See Navigating a Goal's Detail Page in the Team Workspace for the full breakdown of the Created by, Assigned to, and Supervised by fields.
