Why Does a Lecture Open in a New Tab Even When the "Open in New Tab" Option Is Disabled?

Use Case

When adding web-based lectures to a course, there may be instances where some of them open in a new browser tab, even though the "Open in new tab" option has not been selected.

Explanation

This behavior typically occurs when the provided lecture URL does not support being embedded within an iFrame. Certain websites, such as Salesforce, implement restrictions that prevent their pages from being displayed inside another site’s frame for security and privacy reasons.

As a result, when a lecture URL directs to an external website that does not support embedding, the system will automatically open the link in a new browser tab, regardless of the "Open in new tab" setting.

If you are linking to external websites with such restrictions, please note that these lectures will consistently open in a new tab, even if the related setting in Schoox is disabled.
