Enabling "Exclude from Assignment Rules" Permission for Managers

In some cases, you may want your managers to have the flexibility to manage their team’s training more effectively. This includes being able to unassign team members from courses or learning paths and exclude them from future automatic assignments.

By default, only users with the proper permissions can perform these actions. To ensure your managers can perform this action, you’ll just need to review and adjust their job permissions.

How to Enable These Permissions

Prerequisite Permissions

Make sure that the managerial roles that should have this ability include the following permissions:

  1. Assign Training

  2. Exclude from assignment rules

The "Exclude from assignment rules" permission is a sub-permission of the "Assign Training" permission. Therefore, both permissions must be enabled for users assigned to this job to have the ability to exclude learners from assignment rules.

Steps to Grant the Permissions

  1. Navigate to Job Permissions
Go to Academy Workspace → Academy Admin → Organization → Manage jobs → Jobs tab.

  2. Edit the Managerial Job
Locate the managerial job you’d like to update.

  3. Manage Permissions
Click Permissions next to the job title.

  4. Enable the Exclude from assignment rules permission
In the list of permissions, scroll to the Assign Training section.
Check the box for Exclude from assignment rules.

  5. Save Your Changes
Click Save Permissions at the bottom of the page.

What Happens Next

Once these permissions are enabled, managers with this role will be able to:

  • Unassign their team members from courses and learning paths.

  • Select “Exclude from assignment rules” during the unenrollment process to ensure those learners aren’t automatically assigned by automated assignment rules.

This setup provides managers with greater control and flexibility in managing their team’s training assignments.
