Gamification — Reward Store Added

Release date 22 July

The Rewards Store is a gamification-driven feature designed to enhance learner engagement and motivation by allowing users to earn, track, and redeem points for various rewards. The system will introduce redeemable "gems", supporting a rewards management process.

Admins will have full control over the store’s configuration, including reward types, coins distribution, and availability, while learners will experience an interactive and system for tracking and spending their earned gems.

Note that your organization is completely responsible for obtaining and distributing rewards.

Enabling The Reward Store

To enable the Reward Store in your academy, navigate to the Social Settings (Academy Workspace > Settings > Social). Select the Reward Store toggle to flip it to the right, and save.

Setting up the Reward Store

In the Social Workspace, the Reward Store will then be available at the bottom of the list.

Select the arrow next to Reward Store, and select Store from the menu.

To begin, select Set up Reward Store.

The Reward Store utilizes activities, like Leaderboards, Games, and Activity Rings do. As an administrator, you have the option of either importing activities that have already been set up in these other areas, and/or add activities one by one.

If you choose to import activities, select Import activities, then, in the modal that appears, the desired area.

In the next step, you can choose which specific Game or Leaderboard's activities you'd like to import. Academies only have one Activity Ring, so there is no choice if that is the option you choose.

When you've chosen the desired group of activities, select Import Activities.

To add specific activities, one by one, select Add activity.

Select the activity from the list, and determine the number of gems awarded to both Instructors and learners by completing the activity. If activities have already been added via the process described above, they will be unavailable in the individual activity list.

Save when finished. This functions the same as setting up activities in the other areas; instead of setting up points, gems are used.

Advanced options may include options like whether or not to include all or a subset of available elements.

Additional activities have also been added specifically for the Reward Store:

  • Reach the top of the leaderboard
  • Complete a game
  • Reach Apprentice level in Niki’s Learning Quest
  • Reach Whiz level in Niki’s Learning Quest
  • Reach Genius level in Niki’s Learning Quest
  • Reach Mastermind level in Niki’s Learning Quest
  • Reach a 1 week streak for all activity rings
  • Reach a 3 week streak for all activity rings
  • Reach a 5 week streak for all activity rings
  • Reach a 10 week streak for all activity rings
  • Reach a 15 week streak for all activity rings
  • Win your first activity rings competition
  • Win 3 activity rings competitions
  • Win 5 activity rings competitions
  • Win 10 activity rings competitions

When the activities are set up as you'd like them to be, select Next. You can always edit and add more later.

On the next page, choose who can view the Reward Store — everyone or specific elements of your organizational structure.

You can then proceed with creating your first reward or come back it later on.

As an administrator, you can always come back to edit the Reward Store later. This menu also contains links to pending requests and the store history.

Reward Store Categories

Reward Store categories, as with other types of categories throughout your academy, allow you to organize the various rewards, as well as restrict who is able to access them.

In the left menu, select Categories.

There you are able to create and adjust categories specifically for the different type of rewards offered, so that only specific individuals will have access to them.

Creating Rewards

On the Game Store main page, select Create reward.

Give the reward a title and description.

Upload a 320 x 190 pixel and 1260 x 340 pixel image of the physical reward.

Enter the number of gems the reward is worth, and the number available for this reward. The system will count down the number as they are rewarded. If the Stock quantity field is left blank, the quantity will be shown as unlimited.

Enter the start and end date for the reward, as well as the category this reward is associated with.

When finished, select Create.

You can come back at any time to edit, redeem, or delete the reward.

Redeeming Gems

Participants can redeem gems, then when they've collected enough through the various activities.

Individuals can see their gem total in the bar at the top of the page.

Selecting it will take them into the Reward Store. They can review their gem balance, learn what it takes to earn more, and redeem their gems for rewards listed in the store. The participant will be told that they do not have enough gems, if that is the case.

Selecting Redeem opens a modal to confirm the redemption.

The individual will then receive a series of pop-up notices, confirming the redemption. The first letting them know that the request is pending approval.

The second serves as a kind of receipt.

Administrators, then, will receive a notification that the individual has redeemed gems for a reward.

Selecting the notification or link in the email will then take the administrator to the Pending requests page, where they can accept or deny the redemption.

The user will receive a confirmation notification either way.
