You may notice that a manager or supervisor is able to unassign training that was originally assigned by an administrator, even when the Only admins can unassign or reassign training and edit due dates assigned by an admin setting is enabled.
This behavior depends on the status of the administrator who originally created the assignment.
To locate and configure the Only admins can unassign or reassign training and edit due dates assigned by an admin setting follow the steps outlined below:
In the left navigation, make sure you are in the Academy Workspace.
When in the Academy Workspace, select Settings.
From the left-hand navigation panel, select the Academy filter, then navigate to the Training Assignment Settings section.
How the Setting Works
When the Only admins can unassign or reassign training and edit due dates assigned by an admin setting is enabled, training assignments created by an active administrator are protected. In this case, managers and supervisors cannot:
- Unassign the training
- Reassign the training
- Edit the assignment due date
This helps ensure that administrator-created assignments can only be modified by administrators.
When Managers or Supervisors Can Unassign the Training
If the administrator who originally assigned the training is later deactivated, the restriction no longer applies to that specific assignment.
As a result, managers and supervisors can unassign the training, even though the setting remains enabled. This behavior is expected because the permission restriction applies only while the original assigning administrator has an active account.
