Once you've completed a course, you may want to review it again, or start it over completely — for example, to refresh your knowledge, or to work through it again from scratch. If the course allows it, you can retake it yourself at any time, without waiting for an admin to reassign it to you.
Before You Start
Self-service retake is only available on courses whose Multiple completions are allowed setting is configured as View steps after completion, with retake option available but optional. If you don't see a Retake option on a completed course, that course may instead require a retake to view its steps, or it may not allow retaking at all — check with your Academy Admin.
Retaking from the Course About Page
- Open the completed course from My Training or the course catalog so its About page opens.
- Select Retake.
- Confirm in the dialog that appears. See What Happens When You Retake below for what this does.
Retaking from the Course Experience Page
While reviewing a completed course's steps, a Retake button appears at the bottom center of every step, and again on the completion page:
If you're taking the course as part of a Learning Path, the Retake button appears there too. Retaking keeps you inside the Learning Path — you're not taken out of it to start over.
Retaking from Quickview
Anywhere you can open Quickview for a completed course — for example, from the course listing page — select the 3-bullet menu and choose Retake.
This option isn't available from Quickview inside the Team or Training Admin workspaces.
What Happens When You Retake
However you start it, retaking a course asks you to confirm first, since your current progress on the course will be reset:
- Once you confirm, your progress resets to 0% and the course starts over from the beginning.
- Your prior attempt isn't lost — it's kept as a Past Completion, so your original completion history stays on record.
- If you were enrolled in any events connected to the course, retaking removes you from those enrollments, as your progress in the course has been reset.
