You can add a thumbnail and a banner image to a course or an event. These are two independent images. You can upload, replace, or remove each one separately, and you don't need to add both -- either one can be added on its own.
Finding the Thumbnail and Banner Option
The option for adding a thumbnail and banner is named Thumbnail & Banner, for both a course and an in-class or virtual event. On the course panel, this option is described as: "Add a thumbnail or banner to give learners a snapshot of this course's content."
Adding a Thumbnail or a Banner Image
Under Thumbnail & Banner, you'll see a separate preview and Upload image option for the thumbnail and for the banner. Select Upload image on the slot you want to add or replace, then choose one of the following:
- Add from device — opens your device's file picker so you can upload an image directly from your computer.
- Add from resources — opens a window listing eligible images from your Academy's Resources that you have read access to, sorted from newest to oldest. Select one image from the list to use it.
Only jpg, jpeg, and png files can be used, and you can select only one image at a time. Once you've added an image, the preview for that slot updates to show it.
The thumbnail and the banner are independent of each other: uploading, replacing, or removing one does not affect the other.
Removing a Thumbnail or a Banner Image
Each image slot has its own Remove image option. If the slot is still showing the default image, Remove image is greyed out and unavailable. If you've added your own image to that slot, selecting Remove image shows a confirmation before the image is removed. Removing an image only affects the slot (thumbnail or banner) you removed it from.
