Navigating a Goal's Detail Page in the Team Workspace

Release date 09 September 2026

In the Team Workspace, every goal you open — whether it is a personal, team, or organizational goal — opens to its own detail page. This page is the single place where you review a goal's setup, follow its progress, and work with everything attached to it: conversations, tasks, files, links, and connected courses. This article walks through the detail page tab by tab so you know where each piece of information lives and how to act on it.

Opening a Goal and Reading the Header

Select any goal from your list of goals in the Team Workspace to open its detail page. Every goal opens directly to the About tab, which is the landing tab for the page.

At the top of the page, the header shows the goal's title together with the date it was last updated. The last-updated date is shown in the date format you have set in your personal settings. When you have permission to make changes to the goal, an Edit action is available from the header so you can open the goal's setup and update its details.

A Back to {goal type} goal button is available on the detail page. Selecting it returns you to the tab you came from — the Open, Completed, or Archived list of goals.

Moving Between the Goal's Tabs

The detail page is organized into tabs. For a personal or team goal you will see the following tabs:

  • About — the goal's setup, progress, and summary (the landing tab).
  • Team Chat — a conversation space tied to the goal.
  • Tasks — the smaller steps that support the goal.
  • Files — documents and other files attached to the goal.
  • Links — web links attached to the goal.
  • Courses — the courses connected to the goal.

Organizational goals show two additional tabs alongside the ones above:

  • Cascaded — the goals cascaded down from this organizational goal.
  • Badges — the badge recognition associated with the goal.

Reviewing the About Tab

The About tab gathers the goal's core information in one place. Depending on how the goal was set up, you will see these fields:

  • Description — the goal's written description.
  • Starting Value, Target Value, and Current Value — the value the goal began at, the value it is aiming for, and where it stands now.
  • Pillar — shown only when Pillars are enabled in your academy settings.
  • Area — shown only when an Area has been selected for the goal.
  • Measurement — how the goal's progress is measured.
  • Weight — shown only on personal or team goals that have a weight set.
  • Assigned to — for personal, team, and cascaded-to-a-learner goals, this shows the assignee's name (these goals are anchored to a person). For organizational goals and goals cascaded to an org node, this shows the org node title instead, since those goals are anchored to a position in the organization rather than to an individual. On a Stay goal, the assignee's name is shown together with the job and org node the goal was assigned for. On a Follow goal, only the assignee's name is shown, with no job or org node, because a Follow goal tracks the person rather than a fixed position.
  • Created by — the name of the person who created the goal. This is shown on personal, team, and organizational goals.
  • Supervised by — the manager or managers who oversee the goal. The wording depends on how the goal tracks its owner:
    • On a Follow goal (personal or team): Supervised by the assignee's current manager or managers.
    • On a person-anchored Stay goal (personal, team, or cascaded to a learner): Supervised by the manager or managers of the assignee's role at the time the goal was created.
    • On an org-anchored Stay goal (organizational, or cascaded to an org node): Supervised by the manager or managers directly above the assigned org node.

Reading the At a Glance Panel

The At a glance panel gives you a quick summary of the goal's key attributes. This panel stays visible as you move between the goal's tabs. It can include:

  • A goal-type tag showing whether the goal is Personal, Team, or Organizational.
  • A status tag showing whether the goal is Open, Completed, or Archived.
  • The measurement type: Numeric or Non-numeric.
  • The direction of the value: Increasing or Decreasing.
  • A Continuous goal indication, shown when the goal was set as continuous at creation.
  • The Created date, the Due date (when one exists), and the Started date (when one exists).
  • The number of associated Tasks, Links, Files, and Connected Courses.
  • Awards a badge (Yes / No) — shown only for organizational goals, and only when Badges are enabled for goals in your academy settings.
  • The number of cascaded goals — shown only for organizational goals.

Tracking and Updating Progress

The About tab includes a Goal progress graph that shows the portion of the goal that has been completed. The Progress label sits directly above this graph.

To record progress manually, select the Update button. A modal (or an editable area) opens so you can update the goal's current value. The editable field is titled according to the goal's measurement type: Current value for a numeric goal, or Progress for a non-numeric goal.

Below the progress graph, a verification indicator shows whether the goal's progress is Verified or Unverified. When the progress is unverified and you have permission to verify goal progress, a Verify button appears next to the indicator so you can confirm the progress.

Using the Team Chat Tab

The Team Chat tab is a dedicated conversation space for the goal, giving everyone involved a place to discuss it. From here you can see the chats associated with the goal and add your own message.

When you post a message, a recipient dropdown lets you choose who can see it. Choose Send to All so that everyone involved with the goal can see the message, or select a specific person from the dropdown so that only that person can see it. Who appears in the dropdown depends on the goal type and on your role for that goal:

  • Personal goal — if you are the assignee, the dropdown lists the goal's supervisor or supervisors. If you are a supervisor, it lists any other supervisors along with the assignee. Send to All reaches all supervisors and the assignee.
  • Team goal — if you are the assignee, the dropdown lists the creator and the supervisor or supervisors. If you are the creator or a supervisor, it lists the assignee and any other supervisors. Send to All reaches the creator, all supervisors, and the assignee.
  • Goal cascaded to a specific learner — if you are the assignee, the dropdown lists the creator and the supervisor or supervisors. If you are the creator or a supervisor, it lists the assignee and any other supervisors. Send to All reaches the creator, all supervisors, and the assignee.
  • Organizational goal, or a goal cascaded to an org node — if you are an assigned manager, the dropdown lists the creator, the supervisor or supervisors, and the other assigned managers of that org node. If you are the creator or a supervisor, it lists the assigned managers of the goal. Send to All reaches the creator, all supervisors, and the assigned managers.

When there are no messages yet, the tab shows an empty state with the heading Start the conversation and the message Use this space to talk about this goal.

Working with the Tasks Tab

The Tasks tab lets you break a goal into smaller steps and track them. To add a task, select the option to add or create a task and provide:

  • Task name — required.
  • Task description — optional.
  • Due date — optional.

Each task in the list shows its Name, Description, Due date, and Status. When a task is completed, its completion date is shown alongside its status.

When you have the right permissions for your academy, you can edit or remove a task, and you can mark a task complete or remove its completion. Marking a task complete records its completion date.

When no tasks have been added yet, the tab shows an empty state with the heading What's next on your list? and the message No tasks added yet. Create one to begin tracking progress.

Adding Files on the Files Tab

The Files tab keeps documents and other files attached to the goal in one place. To add a file, select the option to add a file and provide a File name.

Each file in the list shows its Name, its Date Added (the date the file was attached to the goal), and its File Size. When you have the right permissions for your academy, you can remove a file.

When no files have been added yet, the tab shows an empty state with the heading Time to add some files and the message No files added yet. Upload one to get started.

Adding Links on the Links Tab

The Links tab keeps web links related to the goal together. To add a link, select the option to add a link.

Each link in the list shows its Link name and its Date Added (the date the link was attached to the goal). When you have the right permissions for your academy, you can remove a link.

When no links have been added yet, the tab shows an empty state with the heading Let's add some links and the message No links added yet. Add one to get started.

Connecting Courses on the Courses Tab

The Courses tab shows the courses connected to the goal, tying learning directly to the outcome it supports. For the full details on connecting and managing courses on a goal, see the dedicated article on connecting courses to a goal.
