Adding a Questionnaire to an Event

Note: The Questionnaires feature is not available by default in academies. To activate it, submit the request to support or your customer success representative.

Questionnaires help you obtain organized feedback from participants. Whereas polls address trends across an audience, questionnaires help administrators and instructors find areas to better the experience.

Note: You will first need to have questionnaires enabled in your academy.

Adding a Questionnaire

In the left navigation, make sure you are in the Academy Workspace.

When in the Academy Workspace, select Training Admin for all Training Administration options.

Select Manage Training and then select Virtual Events.

If the event in question is an In-Class event, select that instead.

After selecting the specific session from the list, select Manage Questionnaires on the right.

Select Create Questionnaire.

Setting Up the Questionnaire

Give the questionnaire a title and description. It is also recommended to set an expiration date for the questionnaire.

Next, determine when the questionnaire should become available to registered team members:

  • From the team member's registration date: the questionnaire becomes available immediately after registration.
  • After the event ends: the questionnaire becomes available only after the event has concluded.

Note: This option cannot be changed after the questionnaire is saved.

Lastly, if the questionnaire must be completed in order for participants to complete the event, select the Required for event completion option.

The questionnaire will be available to participants through:

  • the event notification link, and
  • the event page in the Learner Workspace.

For a questionnaire using the default After the event ends setting, the Take questionnaires prompt stays hidden until the event is marked Completed (the participant is marked attended and the event's status moves to Completed) — it then appears on the event's Take Questionnaire page, as well as on the connected course or learning path experience page, depending on how the event is set up. A questionnaire available from the team member's registration date has no such wait — it's available to the participant right away, as described above.

Participants can reopen and edit the questionnaire as long as it remains within the expiration period. If no expiration date is set, participants will be able to access and modify their responses indefinitely.

Whether previous responses can be resubmitted depends on the questionnaire's availability setting. For a questionnaire available from the team member's registration date, previous answers are shown pre-filled and are overwritten on resubmission. For a questionnaire using the default After the event ends setting, once a participant submits, their answers become final — the questionnaire can no longer be resubmitted, and no Submit button appears when they revisit it.

Questionnaire Questions

There are two question types available for questionnaires — Open-ended and Close-ended.

A Close-ended question consists of a predetermined list of options that the participant chooses from in a searchable dropdown menu. You can add as many options as needed, and the dropdown loads results as the participant scrolls or searches, so long lists stay easy to use.

With an Open-ended question, a statement of some kind is required; the user can answer however they'd like.

Add as many questions as needed and Save when finished.

Activating the Questionnaire

After completing the questionnaire, you will make it available to the participants. Toggle the Public option to Yes when ready.
