Editing the Completion Date of a Course or Learning Path

Individuals with the Complete Training permission can mark a course or learning path as complete and also set its date of completion. This is done in My Team Dashboard.

In the left navigation, make sure you are in the Team Workspace.

When in the Team Workspace, select My Team Dashboard and then select Training.

Classic Dashboard

Under the Courses tab, select the appropriate course's title.

Select the small wrench icon next to the user's name. Then click inside the Completion date box that appears, and insert the date you want to appear as the completion date of the course / learning path.

You can also update the time spent, give an external ID, and/or add a relevant comment and click Save when finished.

The Completion External ID field in the Team Dashboard completion editor

The Completion External ID entered here is the same value shown in the existing Completion External IDs report column and used for reconciling completions against an outside system (an HRIS, a compliance platform, or another LMS). You can also set or back-fill this value in bulk, for many learners at once, using the Courses Mass Assignment template (see Marking Courses/Learning Paths Completed For Multiple Users) -- but once a completion already has a Completion External ID, only this manual editor can change it; the bulk template never overwrites an existing value.

New Dashboard

In the New Dashboard, navigate to the Courses tab and select the appropriate course.

Locate the learner whose completion date needs to be updated and select their corresponding row.

Within the Course Details tab, click the three-dot menu located on the right-hand side of the screen, next to the learner’s name. From the available options, select Mark as completed.

A modal window will appear, allowing you to set a new completion date for the learner.

Note: The Mark as completed button will appear greyed out because the learner already has an existing completion date assigned.

After updating the completion date, the system will display a warning indicating that the learner’s certification and expiration dates will be recalculated based on the newly selected completion date. Select OK to confirm the changes.
