Microlearning is an easy way to learn information in small blocks. This can either be directly, or over time - with the cards being available at set times.
Finding Public Micro-courses
If Microlearning is enabled in your Academy, as a learner, you might be assigned to a micro-course, or you might want to enroll in one that is open for everyone. Public micro-courses can easily be found in your Catalog.
In the left navigation, make sure you are in the Learner Workspace.
When in the Learner Workspace, select Training and then Catalog.
All micro-courses you have access to appear here under the Microlearning tab — including public micro-courses you have not enrolled in yet, private micro-courses you are enrolled in, and micro-courses you are currently taking or have already completed.
Use the Status filter — the first filter listed — to narrow this down to Not enrolled, In progress, or Completed micro-courses. By default, the Microlearning tab shows every micro-course you have access to; apply the Status filter only when you want to see a specific subset. This filter is available on both web and mobile.
Micro-courses you are currently taking show an Assigned or Enrolled tag and a progress bar, the same way they do on My Training. Once you complete a micro-course, that tag is replaced with a Completed tag — if your completion is later reset, the tag reverts as well. Hovering over a micro-course you're enrolled in or have completed and selecting Quick View opens the same Quickview shown on the My Training page (see Taking a Microlearning Course below).
Taking a Microlearning Course
Your current micro-courses, whether you self-enrolled or got them assigned to you, are found under My Training.
When you are in the Learner Workspace, click on Training and then select My Training.
In the Training in Progress stream, you can see your active micro-courses.
If you have a lot of trainings in progress, you can go to the In Progress tab and filter on Microlearning to only see the micro-courses you are currently enrolled in.
Hover over the micro-course thumbnail and select Quick View to open the Quicklook. This section provides details such as the total number of cards in the deck, the skills associated with the micro-course, and the release schedule for each card.
In this example, the deck includes four cards, with two released per day—allowing you to complete the micro-course within two days.
Click Launch Microlearning to begin the course.
Selecting the micro-course title will navigate you directly to the micro-course page.
There are four kinds of Microlearning cards: Text, images, questions, and stacks. Text and images are for you to study, questions need to be answered, and stacks are like flashcards that have text/image combined with a question.
You can flip through the cards using the arrows. To answer a question, click on the answer you think is correct. It will immediately give you feedback.
Stack questions will show in a different color. If you get an answer wrong, you can guess again.
Cards that are unavailable at the moment will show you a timer and let you know when they go live.
When a new card is made available, you will receive an email. Click on the link in the email to immediately go to your next card.
Important notes:
If a micro-course is associated with one or more skills, learners receive progress toward those skills upon successful completion of the micro-course.
Any skills linked to individual cards within a micro-course are automatically associated with the micro-course at the overall level. As a result, skills connected at the card level are also reflected at the micro-course level.
