Course / Learning Path Preview Functionality Improvements

Release Date 29 January

This update introduces improvements to the way training managers and instructors can preview a course or learning path.

While managing a course there are three new options under Edit Course on in the right side Course Panel menu — Preview course, Preview course experience, and Take course.

Preview Course

Selecting Preview course takes the user into the course's About page without any restrictions a learner may normally see — a set schedule, for example.

Preview Course Experience

Selecting Preview course experience allows the user to view the course itself, but without restrictions — mandatory order of steps, for example. A modal will appear upon launch, letting the user know that they will be previewing the course, and no progress will be recorded.

Take Course

Selecting Take course will take the user into the Learner Workspace, where they will view their actual course. They will not be able to see this option if they do not have access to the course as a learner. If they have been assigned the course, they can take the course directly through this option; or if the course is Public, enroll themselves in it.

Additional Functionality

In the drop-down menu next to Preview course experience in the about page, there are now options for Manage and Take course (as described earlier).

Team Workspace

Courses can now be previewed in the Team Workspace, as well, as described above. This allows for the individual assigning the course, for example, to ensure it is the correct course and all is as it should be.

Learning Paths

Functionality is the same for learning paths, for the most part. The exception being that if one does not have access to a learning path's course as an instructor, that course will be not accessible while previewing the learning path.
