Vimeo Video Error: "The embed code for this video is not valid" When Launching Videos in Courses

This article explains how to resolve the error message "The embed code for this video is not valid" when attempting to launch Vimeo-hosted videos within a course in Schoox. The issue typically occurs when incorrect Vimeo URLs are used during video setup.

Overview:

When attempting to fetch Vimeo-hosted videos as Resource items or Web Lectures, you may encounter the following error upon launching the videos within a course:

This error prevents the video from playing correctly within the Schoox platform.

Cause:

The issue stems from the type of URL being used. Specifically, the URLs causing this error are "Manage Videos" links generated within Vimeo. These links are intended for video management within the Vimeo platform and are not valid for embedding or playback in third-party platforms like Schoox.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Open the original Vimeo video link that you added to the course.
  2. As the video loads, Vimeo will redirect you to the main video page with a new URL.
  3. Copy the updated URL from the address bar of your browser.
  4. Replace the original URL in your course content (Resource item or Web Lecture) with this new URL.

Once the correct video link is added, the video will load and play as expected within the Schoox platform. Always ensure you're using the public-facing video URL for embedding or linking in Schoox.
