Use Case
An admin is generating a Courses All Time report using the Report Builder tool. While configuring the report, the Certificate Expiration field is added to display certificate validity information.
However, for some users, the expiration date appears blank, even though they had previously earned certificates that are now expired.
Explanation
This outcome is expected and aligns with the platform’s reporting logic.
The Certificate Expiration field is designed to display expiration dates only for active certificates. When a certificate reaches its expiration date and becomes inactive, the expiration value is no longer shown in the Report Builder output. This behavior is intentional and is part of the system’s design to ensure that report data reflects only currently active certification statuses.
By omitting expiration dates from expired certificates, the report remains focused on up-to-date certifications that are still valid. If a certificate has expired, it will not include an expiration date in the report, even though the user may have held a certificate in the past.
