Utilizing the Homepage Workspace

If you would like learners to see the Homepage Workspace as their default landing page, you can configure this by enabling the corresponding option within the Academy Workspace settings.

To update this setting, go to:
Academy Workspace > Academy Admin > Settings > General > Homepage editor and toggle Make Homepage visible.

This is an optional workspace that can be customized with a variety of gadgets to support different teams within your organization or specific roles in your hierarchy.

Once the Homepage Workspace is enabled, it will become the only option available as the default workspace, and no other workspace can be selected for this purpose.

You can verify this setting by navigating to:
Profile (icon) > Settings > Privacy and Preferences > View Privacy and Preferences > Landing Page.

Homepage configuration

By default, two configuration options are available and can be customized:

  • Admins, training managers, and members with management jobs

  • All members without management jobs

In addition to the default options, up to 50 custom configurations can be created and assigned based on your organizational structure.

To add a custom configuration, select Create configuration.

Within the configurations, you can include any available gadget by selecting the Add gadget button.

Next, select the desired gadget from the dropdown list and click Add.

Configurations and Gadget Behavior

Each user will only see one configuration. Configurations can be arranged in order of priority. If a user is assigned to more than one configuration, only the first configuration in the list (from top to bottom) will be displayed.

  • Example: If a user is both a Head Of and a Supervisor, they will only see the Head Of configuration, if it is higher on the list.

If a user does not match any customized configuration, they will automatically be shown either the management or non-management default configuration.

To prevent users from rearranging gadgets on their homepage, select the Lock Homepage gadget order for all team members checkbox.

Otherwise, users will be able to rearrange the order of their Homepage gadgets according to their preference.

Notes

  • The right sidebar gadget remains locked in its closed position when viewing the Homepage Workspace.

  • Gadgets will only appear if there is information available to populate them.

    • Example: The Announcements gadget will not be shown if there are no active announcements.
