This article is helpful for course creators and administrators who want to allow learners to revisit and review course content after they have already completed their training.
Scenario
You may receive questions from learners who have successfully completed a course and later try to go back to review the steps or materials they previously finished. When they attempt to open those completed steps, they might see an error message indicating that the page is not available.
This behavior is related to how the course is configured, specifically the Multiple completions are allowed setting.
Certain options within this setting are designed to support course retakes, and they influence when and how learners can access course steps after completion.
Why this happens
If the option “Retake is required to view steps. Enables self-retake option for users.” is selected, learners are prompted to retake the course in order to access the steps again. Until a retake is started, completed steps are not available for review.
This setup works well when your goal is to guide learners through a fresh completion each time. However, it may not align with scenarios where learners simply want to revisit the content for reference or reinforcement.
Recommended approach
If you want learners to be able to access and review course materials after completing the training—without needing to retake the course—you can adjust the course settings accordingly.
What to do
From the Course panel, select Edit General Info.
- Locate the Multiple completions are allowed setting.
- Select the option “View steps after completion without retaking the course.”
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save Changes.
Result
With this configuration, learners who have completed the course can freely return to the course steps and review the content at any time. This provides a smoother experience for learners who want ongoing access to training materials while still preserving the option to enable retakes when needed.
When to use this setup
This option is a great fit when:
- Your courses are used as ongoing reference material
- Learners benefit from revisiting content after completion
- You want to reduce the need for learners to start a new retake just to review steps
By aligning the course settings with your learning goals, you can give learners a flexible and supportive experience that matches how they use your training content.
