Enabling the Competitions Sidebar Gadget
After completing the required steps, you will need to make the Competitions Sidebar Gadget visible. To do so, navigate to your Academy Settings within the Academy Workspace.
Please note that this gadget is currently available only on the web app. Therefore, the “Show on mobile app” toggle is inactive.
From this section, you can also set organizational rules if you would like the gadget to be visible only to selected audiences within your academy.
Once the configuration has been completed at the academy level, learners can further customize the gadget’s visibility according to their personal preferences. To do so, they should select their profile icon and click on Settings.
On the Settings page, they should select View sidebar under the Sidebar section.
They can then navigate to the Competitions gadget and configure its visibility according to their preferences.
Competitions Sidebar Gadget Functionality
The gadget displays up to five active competitions in which the learner is currently participating. Only competitions in which the learner is enrolled are visible in the gadget, and competitions that have ended are not displayed.
Competitions are sorted by their end date, with the competition ending soonest appearing first. If multiple competitions share the same end date, they are listed in alphabetical order.
For each competition, the gadget displays the competition title and its end date. The end date is presented in the date format defined by the user’s personal settings.
By selecting the “Go to competition” button, the learner is redirected to the respective competition’s page.
Within the gadget, two views are available: My Ranking and Competition Ranking.
Competition Ranking: Displays all competitors, along with their total points and current ranking. This view shows each competitor’s preferred name, if one has been set. Otherwise, their legal name is displayed.
Profile images are also included, and hovering over an image reveals the competitor’s full name.
If the learner is not currently participating in any competition, the gadget displays the message “No active competitions”. In this case, selecting the “Go to activity rings” button redirects the learner to the Activity Rings overview page, where they can start a new competition.
Please note that if competitors have been invited to participate, they must first accept the invitation in order to appear in the gadget.
