Micro-course Creation and Editing Enhancements

Release date 14 October

This release greatly enhances the micro-course creation and editing experience. It not only provides a more spacious workspace, but also additional functionality:

  • new interactive card types — accordion, tabs, process steps, flashcards
  • enhanced branding options
  • live desktop/mobile/tablet previews
  • provide rationale for correct answer on question cards
  • search & filter across cards
  • AI-assisted content and image generation on every card (for AI-enabled academies only)

Existing micro-courses will remain as they were before the enhancement, and you can edit them as you would new micro-courses.

Navigating Card Creating and Editing

Creating a new micro-course or selecting an existing one takes you into the card list. Creating a new micro-course always starts you with The title card.

Toggle Show cards to the right to view a preview of the card while you edit. Toggling it to the left hides the preview and gives your more space in which to work.

At the top you can save your changes, undo changes, and redo changes. If there is more than the title card, you can filter the cards by type using the drop-down menu.

The Configure drop-down menu takes you into the various micro-course areas.

  • Edit course info
  • Manage cards
  • Edit branding
  • Map skills
  • Schedule
  • Visibility

Adding and Editing Cards

Add a card by selecting plus symbol at the bottom of any existing card.

Choose the type of card from the list provided.

  • Text
  • Image
  • Video
  • Question
  • Accordion (NEW)
  • Tabs (NEW)
  • Process steps (NEW)

Accordions provide interactive drop-downs, each revealing their content when the arrow is selected.

Tabs provide interactive tabs, each revealing their content when selected.

Process steps provide a number list, describing a series of steps or linear progression.

At the top of each card, within the tool bar, you are able to create each card with AI's help (if your academy allows the use of AI tools).

Type in what you'd like AI to provide in the card, select Generate, and it will do its best to provide your request.

Alternatively, simply fill in the blanks, formatting as needed using the editing tools.

If your academy utilizes AI, you can also ask it to shorten, expand, simplify, or polish your content. It can also attempt to convert an existing card to another type.

Adding Images

Selecting Select image allows you to upload an image from your computer. Alternatively, if your academy utilized AI, you can ask AI for an original image.

In the top field, you can give AI instructions or guidelines to follow, then provide a description in the second field. Choose a style from the drop down menu, and generate the image.

The image styles include the following:

  • Photorealistic
  • Flat Illustration
  • 3D Illustration
  • Hand-drawn Line Art

AI will attempt to provide up to three variants from which to choose.

Questions

Answer rationale explanations have also been added to this release, providing more insight into why one answer is more correct than the others.

Searching

In the top-right corner, you can now search for specific terms, and replace them throughout the micro-course, if needed.

In-Card "Search & Replace"

Built into the micro-course card authoring canvas to search specific text or terms across all cards in a micro-course and batch-replace them.

Card Filter & Card Picker

Allows admins to filter and search cards by card type (e.g., Accordion, Tabs, Process Steps, Flashcards, Media/Text) within the editor navigation.

Admin Management Listing Search

Allows Training Admins to search the listing table by micro-course name/title to manage, edit cards, adjust branding, or configure visibility.

Previewing Your Work

Selecting Preview in the card's tool bar allows you to view it as it would appear on desktop, phone, and tablet.

Below the Search bar you can preview the entire micro-course as it currently stands. This mirrors the design language found throughout.

Better Branding

Making sure the cards look the way they should has been improved, with more options available and a more robust platform on which to work. With this release, you are easily able to set up the look of all your cards at once.

In the Configure drop-down at the top of the page, select Edit branding. This option is available to you while first creating a new micro-course or editing and existing one. Selecting this option will bring up the branding page.

Your academy's brand's shades will automatically be populated. These shades affect the various specific elements, as they do throughout your academy.  You are able to see examples in the various cards previewed. You can leave it as is, or generate alternative shades.

Select the background and font colors beneath.

Under each card, you can toggle Overwrite with global style to the left (off) to disregard any changes moving forward.

At the top of the page you're able to switch between defining the look of All card types and Specific card types.

Under Specific card types, you are able to focus on just the look of each of the different card types individually.

When finished, save your changes at the top of the page.
