Schoox allows for coaching sessions with team members at a set cadence or as needed. This provides managers the ability to track their team members' strengths and areas of opportunity, ensuring they continue to grow even after training is complete.
In this article, we are going to walk through setting up coaching, starting with the basic settings.
Settings
Before leveraging the Coaching Module you need to make some choices as to how the module should function by default. You can do this in your Academy Settings.
In the left navigation, make sure you are in the Academy Workspace.
When in the Academy Workspace, select Settings.
From there, filter by Development Type.
Under Coaching, toggle the Coaching Module option to yes. Additional options will appear.
Set Recurring Target Period - This refers to the time frame these sessions should occur within. We have an article to cover Managing Coaching Targets and how to set them up.
Coaches with Managerial Permissions Can Create Sessions With - This setting determines which users managers can create coaching sessions for.
It includes two options:
-
Direct Reports Only
Managers can create coaching sessions only for users who report to them directly. -
Entire Suborganization
Managers can create coaching sessions for all users within their visible organizational structure. This includes not only their direct reports, but also all users further down the hierarchy. For example, a Head of an Above Unit with coaching permissions will be able to create sessions for all users in their organizational structure, even if lower-level managers (such as Heads of child Above Units or Unit Managers) do not have coaching permissions.
Allow Coaches to View Each Other's Sessions - If a leader with the Coaching permission shares the same (Above) Unit as a co-leader, they can see previously performed sessions by other coaches.
Permissions To Coach
Once the module is turned on and the settings are in place, it is time to give permissions to the appropriate leaders in the organization. See: Defining Permissions per Job
There are three permissions related to coaching.
- Coach: The user with this job can coach others. sure the desired jobs have the "Coach" permission turned on.
- Create Coaching Target: This lets the user set up a coaching target.
- Create Coaching Form: This lets the user set up a coaching form.
