Adding Skills to Your Academy

Once you, as an academy admin, have enabled the Skills Management feature for your academy, you are ready to find and add the desired academy skills. The skills that you will add will be the ones that will be assessed on each user. So, you need to determine which skills are relevant to your Academy.

In the left navigation, make sure you are in the Academy Workspace.

When in the Academy Workspace, select Development Admin.

Select Skills and then select Manage Skills.

Adding Skills (AI Not Enabled)

Schoox provides you with several common skills you can use for your academy. These are found in the Skills Database. The skills provided are of the default type. To see all of the available system-defined skills click on the Add from Database button.

A list of skills will appear with predefined names, descriptions, and categories. Find the skills you want to add, and select them under Actions.

To add them to your academy, click Add to Academy.

Adding Custom Skills (Manual)

If you cannot find a predefined skill you like, you can add a skill manually.

Select the Skill Type and Category, give the skill a name, and give it a description. After that, scroll down and click Save.

Once the skills have been added to your academy, you can edit them based on your needs, or add a translation in a different language. Just go back to Manage Skills and click on the Edit icon.

Please note: The languages available here are the UI languages you have selected in your Academy's settings. Each user will see the skill titles and descriptions that are saved for their UI language.

Don’t forget to Save your changes when finished!

Adding Skills (AI Enabled)

If you have AI-options enabled, you will have the option to add skills with AI. For a more comprehensive guide on this, including best practices, see: Connecting or Mapping Skills Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Selecting Add with AI will send you to the Map Skills page.

On the page that appears, your academy's jobs and courses will be listed under the respective tab.

Select the eye icon to view the current mapped skills and AI-suggested skills.

Select the Suggested skills tab.

Check the boxes next to any skills that you deem relevant, and select Map skills at the top.

Grouping Skills

Once you have added all the appropriate skills you can put them into groups for easy distribution.

When in the Academy Workspace, select Development Admin for all Development Administration options.

Select Skills and then select Group Skills.
