Release Date 12 June
This release brings the following enhancements to the how events function within the calendar.
- Redesigned Personal Settings: A new, more intuitive structure for easier navigation and control.
- Calendar Sync Relocation: The calendar sync process is now located under personal integrations in user settings.
- Smarter Event Notifications: Updated wording in multiple event notifications to make it easier to add events to your external calendar.
- Enhanced Sync Options: Additional sync settings for Google and Outlook Calendar to ensure real-time updates from Schoox to your external calendar.
Enhanced Sync Options
You are able to set up your personal calendar within its settings.
Previously, to add your Schoox calendar to your personal calendar, you needed to configure what elements you wanted to share on you personal calendar, copy the URL, and paste (import) it into your personal calendar.
Additionally, you also needed to enable the with the external calendar in your personal settings if you'd like to specifically sync your coaching sessions.
This release separates the Calendar Settings into two parts — Calendar Preferences and Calendar Sync.
Calendar preferences simply allows you to determine your calendar's first day of the week, and if it displays weekends.
The entire sync setup now happens within your personal settings. That option will take you there. (Avatar > Settings > Integrations)
There you can select the calendar elements you'd like to sync from the drop-down menu, and connect your Schoox and personal calendars (Google and Outlook). You will then also be able to associate it with a specific calendar if you've subscribed to more than one.
Google and Outlook calendars are officially supported in this release. Apple calendar, unfortunately, is not available currently. However, the Other external calendar provider option has been added, and should work for most other calendar services, including Apple.
Real-time updates
Updates previously synced at intervals determined by the external calendar's vendor. For example, Google may sync once every 24 hours. They did not necessarily update in real time.
This release triggers the sync process, instead, upon changes to the event. This allows for real-time calendar updates in Google and Outlook calendars.
Please note: Real-time updates function only if sync is configured within the personal settings.
New Notifications
Several notifications have also been adjusted to make adding events to calendars easier for participants.
Selecting one of the calendar options will take the participant into their academy, and automatically add the event to their calendar. If the user has yet to connect that calendar, they will first be asked to do so.
Please Note: This functionality will also work if you connected your calendar but have not set anything to sync.
