Course / Learning Path Decision Modal Overhaul

Release date 17 June

Currently when a learner selects a course from their My Training page, and that course is part of a learning path, they are given the option to proceed to the standalone course or open the course within the learning path. This modal only appears if the connected training items are not hidden.

This release adjusts what is shown in the modal, based on the circumstances, and communicates the learner's options with additional specificity. Each modal will display why a learning path is locked (inaccessible), each learning path to which the course belongs, set clear expectations of what will happen next, and better communicates to the learner what needs to be completed in order to unlock the specific course.

These changes are designed to achieve the following:

  • Simplify the learner experience by removing unnecessary decision steps
  • Reduce confusion and clicks when accessing courses from My Training or Course About pages
  • Ensure consistent, predictable navigation behavior across all course types
  • Improve overall usability and aligns with modern UX standards

The following are the new rules implemented:

  • Learning items only appear if they are locked (prerequisites not met, sequence lock, or scheduler lock). Unlocked learning paths are not shown. The "In this learning path: " prefix is removed - only the learning path title is shown.
  • Displayed learning paths will provide information as to why they are locked. For example, "...open in 3 hours after the previous course completion date in the learning path."
  • All learning paths to which the course belongs are now displayed if they have incomplete prerequisites.
