This functionality is part of the Schoox Intelligent Learning Platform and is currently rolling out to customers in groups, with general availability targeted for late August 2026. Don't see it in Academy Settings? Join the waitlist to let us know you're ready.
Micro-assessments in Schoox allow you as an academy administrator or training manager to see how proficient each of your team members are in the skills they need to do their various jobs. AI can utilize the Microlearning and Skills, already enabled and set up in your academy, to create skill-specific scenario-based knowledge checks, focusing on up to five skills each. They can then be assigned to specific teams members, as any course would be. The results can then drive the development of the needed skills, and ultimately enhance the team member's career.
Enabling Micro-Assessments
Micro-assessments utilize both Skills and Microlearning. If you have both areas set up and configured in your academy, and do not see the menu options described below, please let Support or your representative know.
Creating a Micro-Assessment
To create a micro-assessment, select the Academy Workspace, and Development Admin. Under Skill Gap Analysis, select Micro-Assessments.
There you will see any existing micro-assessments, and you can create a new one. Select Create micro-assessment.
Micro-assessments use AI to generate the content. Select Start designing at the bottom of the page.
On the next page, complete the fields presented to guide AI on the right path.
Job (mandatory) - Select the job from the drop-down menu that you want to associate to this micro-assessment. The jobs listed in the drop down menu are those that already have been mapped to skills.
Title and Description (mandatory) - These fields inform, more than any others, what you would like AI to focus on when designing the micro-assessment. The title should briefly describe the focus of the micro-assessment, while the description elaborates on it. When all is said and done, don't be afraid to give your AI assistant too much information.
Skills Clusters and Skills - When the job has been chosen, the skills and, if set up Skill clusters, will appear as drop-down menus. You can select up to five skills for this micro-assessment to focus on.
Company name and Industry - These fields help focus the information AI collects while it searches the internet. This information can be added on your branding page; any changes here will overwrite that information. Note that your company name may differ from your academy name; it is the company name that is important in this case.
Language - The language in which this micro-assessment will be created.
External ID - Your organization may need an external ID associate with this micro-assessment in order to track it with, for example, your HRIS system.
Requested number of cards - Select how many cards you'd like the micro-assessment to include. A minimum of ten cards per skill is required, and the menu will let you know if you have selected too few based on the number of skills selected earlier.
When finished, select Create assessment.
Assessment Planning
The AI will then prepare the required number of cards, that should be reviewed and edited as needed.
The underlying plan can be reviewed, as well, by selecting View Planning.
Each micro-assessment includes content reflecting four levels of proficiency — Foundational, Operational, Proficient, and Advanced. These proficiency indicators and associated steps can be reviewed by skill or by proficiency level to better understand the AI's thought process when designing the micro-assessment. It is best practice to review these plans, to make sure they align with your organization's needs. If the direction is off, you may need to start the process from the beginning, and adjust the title and description.
Selecting Preview allows you to view the micro-assessment as a learner would.
When finished, be sure to save the micro-assessment, and exit.
You are able to come back to each micro-assessment to view its contents, edit its cards, and archive it if no longer needed.
Assigning a Micro-Assessment
To assign a micro-assessment, select the Team Workspace. Under Micro-assessment, select Assign Micro-assessment.
There are two ways to assign a micro-assessment — individually or multiple assignment.
To assign an individual micro=-assessment, select it from the list.
If there are more than one micro-assessment that you'd like to assign to a specific job, first select the job from the filter list on the left. Then check the boxes associated with the micro-assessments you want to assign, and select Next.
Either method will then lead to a page where you can choose between assigning by individual or by criteria, as you would any course or learning path.
