Courses now have a setting to turn off the Next and Back navigation buttons that learners use to move between steps. If your course works better with learners navigating through its own list of steps — instead of clicking through step by step — you can now turn those buttons off, on web and on the mobile app, independently.
Next and Back Navigation Buttons, Now Optional
Every course's settings now include a Show Next and Back navigation buttons option, available when creating or editing a course in General Details/Info.
It has two options — one for web, one for the mobile app — both are set to Show by default. Setting the option to Hide will prevent the Next and Back buttons from appearing in that course for every step type: lectures, exams, events, polls, on-the-job training, and SCORM. Be sure to save when finished.
The course content then expands to use the space the buttons would have taken up at the bottom of the page; learners must navigate using the list of steps provided on the right instead.
Taking a Course Within a Learning Path
This is a course-level setting; there's no separate setting to configure at the Learning Path level. Whether a learner takes the course on its own or as part of a Learning Path, the Next and Back buttons will appear or not based on the course's settings.
Change It Any Time
This setting isn't locked in at creation — you can turn it on or off for a Course at any time, even after the course is live.
