The sidebar provides members in your Academy with multiple gadgets for easier navigation. These range from Shortcuts to Games to Groups. The sidebar is always visible on the left side of the screen, even if you have none of the gadgets set-up.
Navigation
As an Admin, you can decide which Gadgets users can see. Click on the three dots next to the sidebar and select Academy Sidebar Settings. These settings can also be found in the Academy Workspace by going to Academy Admin -> Settings -> Control Panel.
Scroll down to Sidebar to open your gadget settings.
Gadget Order
The default order in which the gadgets show up in the sidebar is the order as shown in these settings. To change the default order, click on Reorder on the top and drag and drop the gadgets in your desired order.

Gadget Settings
For each gadget, you can decide the Academy Standard for the Gadget Visibility and Workspace Visibility. For Shortcuts, you can also decide on the standard order of the workspace gadgets.
If you turn off both options for the Gadget Visibility, members will not be able to see or adjust this gadget at all for themselves. For the Workspace Visibility, as well as the shortcut selection, you will just be setting the default.
Some gadgets, such as bookmarks, allow for more specific visibility. This allows you to create multiple bookmark sets for different groups in the Academy.
- By Team Organization: Select who can see this bookmark set based on their (above) unit and job.
- By Groups: Select who can see this bookmark set by group
- By Roles: Select who can see this bookmark set based on their academy roles.
After you decide which gadgets should be visible, and what the standard options should be, members can adjust this to their personal preference. See: Managing the Sidebar (Learner)
Available Gadgets
| High Priority Announcements | High Priority Announcements shows the current high priority announcements. Whether an announcement is high priority, and if it is, how long for, is decided upon the creation of the announcement. |
| Bookmarks |
The Bookmarks gadget shows the bookmark set up. To create a set of bookmarks, select New bookmark set. Give the set a name and description, and select Add bookmark to add one or more links. You can also link to a page within the Academy. Either add another set, or click save to add the bookmark set. Each set can be made visible for everyone in the Academy (by Workspace), based on (above) units and job (by Team Organization), for a specific group (by Group), or a specific academy role (by Role). There can be a maximum of three sets, with unlimited links. |

| Latest Certificates | The Latest Certificates gadget shows the your recent certificates. |
| Niki's Learning Quest | Shows the learners progress in Niki's Learning Quest. |
| My Development | The My Development gadget shows a summary of a your goals, performance reviews, coaching sessions and skills. |
| Leaderboards | The Leaderboards gadget shows the learners' current spot on the active leaderboards. |
| Learning Path Status by Learner | Track learners’ progress across learning paths |
| Shortcuts |
The Shortcuts gadget lets you decide on up to six shortcuts that show in the sidebar. Drag and drop the shortcuts to decide the order in which they appear. By default, it will show the first six shortcuts available for your platform (web or mobile) and permissions. Users can fine-tune this to their preferences. |

| Suggested Groups | The Suggested Groups gadget shows you groups that are suggested on you based on your role and Academy use. |

Troubleshooting
Learners are not seeing the gadgets in all workspaces, even when all workspaces are on
The workspace visibility for gadgets can be overwritten for the individual in the Learner Sidebar Settings. If the learner changes the workspace visibility, they will see it in different workspaces than based on the Academy Settings.
Some learners can not see all gadgets
Some gadgets, such as Team Learning Overview require extra permissions. If users do not have these permissions, they cannot see this gadget.
Learners are seeing the gadgets in a different order than in the Academy Settings
The order of gadgets can be overwritten for the individual in the Learner Sidebar Settings. If the learner reorders the gadgets for their personal view, they will see it in their preferred order.
