OJTs in Multilanguage Courses

Release date 11 November

Learners in multi-language courses now receive the on-the-job training (OJT) written for their own language. Administrators can create a separate OJT version for each language profile of a course, and leaders keep a single, unified OJT record across all of those languages, so progress and completion across regions are easy to follow in one place.

This feature applies to multi-language courses only. OJTs in single-language courses work as they always have.

What you can do

  • A separate OJT for each language: Give every language of a course its own OJT title, tasks and visibility.
  • The right OJT for every learner: Learners see the OJT that matches the preferred language selected in their academy.
  • Translations overview and Copy to other languages: See OJTs next to lectures and exams, and copy an OJT to other languages as a starting point.
  • Editing language selector: Switch the language you are editing on the course panel's On-the-Job Training page.
  • Language in the Team workspace: See each trainee's language, filter by language, and pick a language in the Assessment matrix.

Separate OJTs for Each Language

OJTs in a multi-language course work like exams and lectures. Each language version of an OJT is independent, with its own title, its own tasks and its own visibility setting (Private or visible), so the number of tasks can differ from one language to the next. An OJT can also exist in only one language, in which case it is shown only to learners of that language.

OJT titles are shown as written and are not translated automatically.

The Right OJT for Every Learner

Learners automatically receive the OJT and tasks for their own language, and their progress is calculated on that version. A Private version is not offered to learners. Hiding or making a version visible updates progress for the learners of that language, so a learner's percentage can change afterward.

All language versions report back to a single, unified OJT record, giving leaders one view of progress across regions without reconciling separate OJTs.

Translations Overview and Copy to Other Languages

The course's Translations overview lists OJTs alongside lectures and exams.

Use the On the Job Trainings filter option to focus on OJTs only. When an OJT exists only in the default language, an Add option appears in the column of the other languages.

Select Copy to other languages to send an OJT to the languages you choose as a placeholder for that language. Each copy starts as Private, so you can translate it and make it visible when it is ready.

Editing Language Selector

On the On-the-Job Training page of the course panel, the Editing language selector at the top of the page lets you choose which language version you are working on, with a link to the Translations overview next to it. A new OJT you create is added only to the language you are currently editing.

Each OJT also offers a View Translations option. It opens the OJT translations panel, which lists every language version, shows whether it is Translated or Not translated, shows its step number or Private step status, and includes an Edit action for each.

Language in the Team Workspace and Assessment Matrix

My Team Dashboard in the Team Workspace keeps one entry for each OJT. Opening it lists the trainees from every language version, with a Language column showing each trainee's language and a Language filter to narrow the list. Each trainee's progress is counted against the OJT version for their own language.

The Assessment matrix includes a language selector. The tasks and trainees shown, and the Excel export, follow the language you select.

Reporting

Language is also being added to reporting: a Language filter and Language column in the OJT views of the My Team Dashboard (including the classic dashboard view), a Language filter in the course and exam reports, and Report Builder OJT reports that list each OJT once and show data for the language each learner attempted.
