Sidebar Gadget Organizational Rules

Release Date 30 July

This release adds the ability to use the academy's organizational structure when setting up sidebar gadget viability.

Currently, when a gadget is added to a workspace, it becomes visible to all users with access to that workspace. With this new functionality, admins will be able to define targeted visibility based on organizational criteria—for example, making a specific gadget visible only to users with the role "Store Clerk" in "Unit A" within a particular workspace.

Additionally, a new visibility note has been added to each gadget during configuration to indicate if it is intended only for managers. This aims to prevent confusion observed with clients who expected such gadgets to appear for all users.

Creating Rules

The Sidebar Gadget Settings now have a new section at the top, Sidebar Rules.

Selecting Create new rule allows for rules to be created based on the academy's organizational structure.

Before saving each rule, it should be given a unique name.

Each new rules will appear in the Sidebar rules section, and can be deleted or edited as needed.

Up to 50 rules can be created.

Add Rules to Gadgets

Each gadget now has a new By rules field.

If left empty, it will not influence the gadget's visibility.

To add a rule to the gadgets visibility criteria, select it from the field's drop-down list.

Add as many rules as desired, and save when finished.

Managers Only

There are gadgets that were only meant for management roles. By design, these specific gadgets do not appear to those who do not have the associated permissions.

To minimize confusion, these gadgets have now been labeled with a Managers only tag, communicating that they will not be seen by those who do not have permission to view them.
